Game of Thrones Season 1- David Benioff, D.B. Weiss

Probably the best show on television right now and defiantly the best show that i have seen in recent time. Game of Thrones is full of explicit content, which is what makes HBO such a premium channel. This show takes place in middle earth when Kings would rule by the blade, which couldn't be more true in this bloody interpretation. This series starts off by introducing a race for the next king of the seven kingdoms after a mysterious death of the previous protector of the realm. The next king in line has welcomed his crowning with abuse and neglect. Eddard Stark (Sean Bean) has been assigned as hand of the throne, and the only thing standing in the way of the rich, evil and incestuous Lannister family.

The closest thing i can think off in being similar to this show is The Lord of The Rings. Except a little more realistic with a lot more sex. You wont find any elves, hobbits, or orks, but there are dragons and white walkers to worry about. They don't frequently appear in the first season but are referenced to quite a bit throughout the story line. The directors definitely have a lot ahead of them in the second season by having a perfect set up to content that hasn't been fully revealed yet.

For some early episodes it is based heavily on dialogue and introducing characters and their conflicts. But eventually it picks up mid way through the season, and oh boy does it pick up. I will try not to give away too much in case you haven't seen it yet, but there is a lot of death. At some points it is so extreme that i have had to turn away. Throats getting slit, horses getting slaughtered, limbs getting torn off, you name it. And just when you think this show got good, in comes the lesbian lovers and smoke show prostitutes.

This sick and twisted HBO series has grabbed my attention from the start and will continue to be a favorite of mine in to the second season. I really hope these directors and actors are in this project for the long run because it has potential to be life long favorite of mine as well as an admired Emmy award winner.
