Top Ten Mob Bosses of All Time.

10. Joe Cabot (Reservoir Dogs, 1992)
Joe Cabot is played by Lawrence Tierney in the 1992 Quentin Tarantino hit Reservoir Dogs. He is the mastermind behind the heist that will take place in the middle of the day at a bank with minimal security. And in this operation come 6 men all with the alias of a color, Mr. Pink, Mr. White, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Orange, Mr. Blue, Mr. Brown. Even though these men don't know each others real names, they become pretty close acquaintances after everything blows up in their face. Cabot is a long time moss boss that offers a helping hand to anyone willing to return the favor. He is a warming father to his criminal son Eddie, and a vicious boss that will stop at nothing to get what he wants...Ice.

9. Avi Denovitz (Snatch, 2000)

One of the more humorous bosses on the list is Cousin Avi Denovitz played by Dennis Farina. A gangster/ jeweler who is not afraid to speak his mind. After hearing about a diamond the size of a fist being lost, he travels to London to find it, "Yea that's right London, You know: fish, chips, cup 'o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary fucking Poppins... London!" This ruthless boss is not afraid to spit in the face of someone who wastes his time, or fucks something up. It will always be his way, always, Like it or not.

8. John Rooney (Road to Perdition, 2002)
John Rooney, played by Paul Newman in the 2002 1920 gangster flick Road to Perdition. Like all mob bosses he loves his life of luxury. But he also enjoys helping out others in their pursuit of starting a life with a nice house and a healthy family. And what Rooney giveth, he taketh away. When Tom Hank's son threatens the business as a witness, Rooney does what he does best, search and destroy. An old man that still has a lot of pack to his punch.

7. Sam 'Ace' Rothstein (Casino, 1995)

A True business man, 'Ace' is looking to be the richest man in the gambling industry. He dresses like a champ and has the  swagger that can't be matched by many. Played by Robert Dinero, he plays a similar part to that of James Conway in the movie Goodfellas. 'Ace' has a lot of shit to deal with though. His promiscuous wife, his hothead friend Nickey, and the FBI breathing down his back. But he has a lot of motivation to stay on level ground. In the end he does whatever he can to stay afloat as a criminal to provide for his daughter and to keep his swagger outside of jail. Well played Mr. Rothstein.

6. Paul Cicero (Goodfellas, 1990)
Pauly is another calm mob boss that doesn't appreciate it when a loose cannon goes behind his back and disrespects him. Played by Paul Sorvino in the 1990 Scorsese hit Goodfellas. He is an older figure that the rest of the guys look up to as a father. Both skilled as a leader and in the culinary arts Pauly is a true Italian, and a truly made man. He is more of a prophet. He will let you know when your heading into danger, and once you've been warned theres no helping hand to reach out and save you. He stays away from drugs and stays classy with a fat cuban cigar.

5. Tony Montana (Scarface, 1983)
The complete opposite of most mob bosses, Tony Montana is a spark plug that is not afraid to make an ass of himself in public. Al Pacino claim to fame came from this role in the '83 film Scarface. As an immigrant from Cuba he has made a vow to stop living in the slums and to take over as the top dog in Miami. In a B-Rabbit fashion he battled his way to the top, punishing any higher up in his way. Tony's bravery and coke addiction was the ultimate reason for his demise. But he is one bad ass Cubano, thats for sure.

4. Frank Costello (The Departed, 2006)
Frank Costello is a character based on the Boston Irish mob boss "Whitey" Bulger. Played by Jack Nicholson, Costello runs a tight ship in his city that he worked so hard to control. He is a very animated guy that is a mastermind at espionage. He has rats working inside the BPD and FBI, so that he can racketeer the local businesses and rule with an iron fist. Costello is beaten at his own game in the end while trying to move illegal drugs, but luckily for him he was killed in action and not forced to live in the scummy cells in Walpole.

3. Tony Soprano (The Sopranos, 1999)
Tony Soprano may be a little out of shape, but he still can throw the hammer down if someone steps out of line. James Gandolfini plays the family man/ mobster in the hit TV series The Sopranos. He has made a very successful business and has proved his longevity through blood and iron. A real respectable man that may seem a little mentally unstable at some points. In the final season he does jump a little out of his tree and succumbs to the pressure of leading an underground business. But he is one of the biggest bad asses on the list.

2. Marsellus Wallace (Pulp Fiction, 1994)
"What does Marsellus Wallace look like?" Definitely not like a bitch. Ving Rhames plays a chocolate mob boss with a soul that shines, literally. He is one tough guy that will get hit by a car, and then get up and get into a street fight. His business is formal wear only and if you find yourself in any sort of trouble he will do his best to clear things up, most likely calling "The Wolf". He enjoys gambling on sporting events, preferably boxing where he can easily fix the match to best suit his financial status. But if you fuck with that, then he will do everything in his power to hunt you down. Even if it means having a loose asshole. EW.

1. Don Vito Corleone (The Godfather, 1972)
Of course coming in at first for best mob bosses of all time is the legend, Don Vito Corleone. The Godfather of them all. Played by one of the best actors of all time, Marlon Brando, who made a famous career starting in the 40's as a pretty faced bad boy. His family is another example of a formal wear only and very serious business that will do anything to protect their own. He is more than a boss, he is the king, one who stays in the shadows and gives out the orders. He doesn't have to get his hands dirty because he is too valuable. And when he dies, so does the family business. So thank you Don Vito Corleone for being the face of the industry. A business that takes a lot of will power and determination. Only a few men like Corleone can handle the task. But truth is, he is one of a kind.
