Falling Skies 2 Hour Premiere- Robert Rodat
Last night at 9pm ET Falling Skies premiered on TNT for 2 hours. And for 2 hours i was tossing and turning, getting up during the middle of it to get food, and dozing off a little bit, and usually that is not me during a new show. Falling Skies does feature some solid actors but the whole concept is getting old for me. Aliens, rebels, resistance, robots, lasers, i have already seen this a hundred times. And i can really only deal with it for a maximum of 2 hours in a movie theater. From what i saw in the premiere nothing has changed in the science fiction alien genre. They have came down to kill or imprison us while stripping us of every resource we have.
I am trying to think of anything that comes to mind as a reason for me to watch this show besides two hot blondes. And i really have nothing. This show is Terminator, War of the Worlds, Independence day, District 9, and V all recycled and thrown into one show. I believe that with a genre like this maybe one actor will rise up and take the reigns to give me a reason to watch the show. Hopefully that actor is Noah Wyle. He does have the capability to step up in being the protagonist scholar with a chip on his shoulder, lets hope he slaughters some aliens while rescuing his son that is enslaved by the aliens. Maybe with a pitchfork, or a exploding crossbow. If he remains as a sensitive lover boy then i see no hope for this show after one season.
I think i will try and see how this show ends up at the end of the first season. After all it is only the premiere, and Spielberg is behind this production. But as of right now i can't see myself staying up till 10pm on a Sunday to watch this show. Maybe there is hope, the sneak peak to the next episode looks somewhat interesting. It is probably just another creative exciting preview that got me to watch this show in the first place.
